He cradled me in his arms like a baby and sang me a lullaby. He kissed my cheek softly and fondled my breast. Then he did it to me again. He said darling, darling. He said precious, precious. When he was done I went into my new room and threw up all over the floor. Edith came in with a wastebucket and a Brillo pad and some soap, and said, “Get scrubbing.”
